Tralala

7 September, 2004

Right! I’ve been completely out of it today 😆 so alas my tidying has not progressed 🙁

I did see John though and apparently I missed all the excitement on the Friday when I had my attack – Tracy almost squashed herself in between the door and my chair *cackles* I don’t remember that bit…
Apparently I did pass out (no idea when – it’s all a bit fuzzy and blurry with bits missing anyway!)

I’ve got the most tremendous pain in my abdomen – think my digestive system is the culprit…

Victory is approaching

6 September, 2004

Just to give you your usual update!

Today I’m proud to announce *drum roll* on 135 my desktop and 244 on the laptop!

Problem is this is where it gets tough now, I’ve done almost all the deleting and now it’s almost time for the more challenging bit. Oh well, I’ll tackle that tomorrow.

Selworthy are back today and college next Wednesday, I’m determined to get it finished by then so we shall see!

The Cleanup Continues

5 September, 2004

The latest tally – 345 pet files on the laptop and 166 on the desktop!

Not bad when you consider I started off with almost 600 on each (so close to 1200 total )

It’s all going rather well! I’ve sorted out my floppies a bit too, threw away a corrupted disk and wiped a couple. I shall work on those again today because I really want to get rid of at least one more. I could get rid of 5 by putting TDP on a CD-RW instead of zipped over 5 floppy disks but that seems like cheating 😛

Edit: 310 pet files on the laptop and 146 on the desktop! Getting there, slowly but surely 🙂

Happy Birthday Vale!

3 September, 2004

Well, it’s taken me a few days, but today I’ve been able to accept it enough to admit it. Cookie is getting old, I’ve had him 18 months and he was an adult when I got him. Now he’s very slow, his coat’s looking fairly poor condition, sleeps a lot and he’s just showing his age. Me thinks he’s in his last couple or few weeks of life 😥

I’m loving him lots and watching my other hamster, Pinto, throw himself off the bars and platform of his cage and fall a foot onto the floor! Oh happy days…

On a more cheerful note, it’s Vale’s birthday today!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
VALE!

5 years old today 🙂

Sorting & Tiding

30 August, 2004

I’ve deleted so many files it’s madness!

I had over 500 pet files on both computers, quite a few of the files on this one (laptop) were copies of the files on the other one (desktop) so I’ve been happily deleting!

I started off by sorting them properly – putting them in the game, seeing what they were, writing down info, taking pictures and then putting them on a page, then I thought sod it 😆 and just started deleting.

I’m now down to 405 pet files on the laptop and 283 on the desktop, I just hope I haven’t deleted anything I want to keep in the process!

I’ve also deleted loads of files and programs on my desktop because I want to reformat it soon. It’s partitioned into 3 drives; C, D and E. C drive is full of junk, E drive is full of junk and I’m saving everything I want to keep to the D! I’ve almost got everything I want to save on the C drive backed up, but I can’t decide if I should do a proper job and sort the E out before I reformat or just do it now anyway…

Hopefully I’ll be able to send all the adoptions backlog I have too, should go hand in hand with the sorting…

Urgh

28 August, 2004

Sorry – it’s been an exhausting week! Wednesday was fun, we went outside in the morning and then had lunch outside too.
Came back in briefly and there was a lady with a load of beauty products, most of them had their feet soaked in water with peppermint or lemon balm crystals in, then sprayed with a spray of the same smell! The combination of all the cosmetics set off one of my coughing & wheezing attacks. Unfortunately mum had my inhaler and she’d just gone shopping so I pounced on her when she returned 😆 and that got it under control quickly. However, because of that I made sure I had it on me on Friday which was very lucky, which I’ll explain in a minute.

On Friday we started off by playing a ball game, we all sat in a circle (well, more a rectangle!) and had to throw the ball to each other, saying the name of the person we were throwing to. Then we played a version of follow my leader, where you sent one person out of the room, picked a leader then brought the person you sent out back and they had to guess who the leader was. We finished with a game of wink wink murder, where again you send someone out of the room, then you pick a murderer and bring the person back. The \”murderer\” winks at people and if they wink at you you have to die. The person you sent out has to guess who the murderer is!

After that Sonia wanted to go into the light room and so did a few others, so I took them down (they have to have someone there to supervise) and spent the rest of the morning yelling at Daniel to behave, Sonia to ignore him and both of them to be quiet 😆 I got them all fairly quiet, then someone came in to say it was lunchtime. I had quite a crowd by then! It’s a fairly small room, only designed for a few people (about 4?) and there were 4 on the water bed alone! Tight fit – they were lying over the width rather than length and even then the end ones were almost falling off.

Lunch was a BBQ, the afternoon was a disco. There were balloons and what not, great fun! I got a bit breathless and took my inhaler, didn’t seem to do anything but I just shrugged it off, thinking/hoping it would just go away 😳 (I know, bad girl). Anyway, it got progressively worse until I couldn’t stand it any longer and I started to go and find someone, only I ground to a halt mid way 😆 Tis a bit fuzzy – there was a worker called John who’d been playing with the balloons with a group of us, I remember him coming up and saying \”V, are you ok?\” and lots of people round me and then I was in the kitchen (nearest room to my stopping place) with him sitting on a chair on my right and one of the other adults on my left. Oh, and me thinking \”I don’t wanna go to hospital!\” All I could do was lie there with my eyes closed, till it got a lot better.

It was ok, got it back under control eventually. It was incredibly scary though – it’s very difficult to describe and impossible to imagine, but everything below my neck (or possibly chest – can’t remember) went very heavy, as if it was lead, and numb. Acute pins and needles everywhere, I literally couldn’t move anything. My right hand (which is my electric chair’s joystick controller – handy!) was clenched and no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t get it to move. Couldn’t move anything below my neck. As well as being very numb and heavy it felt as if something was pushing down (or possibly sucking the air out) of everything. Cos of the lack of oxygen it made me very dizzy which in turn made me feel sick and feel faint. Add the elephant which had taken up residence sitting on my chest and all was good!

I panicked everyone rather 😳 but the lady who was with me as well as John said at least I got her out of the cleaning 😆

I feel absolutely awful today and still rather scared incase it happens again! The worst I’ve got to before is pins and needles in my arms, obviously tight chest but not to that degree. Mad thing is I’m not asthmatic…

I’m also incredibly tired from such a busy week which doesn’t help. Luckily all is fairly quiet over here for a while. Might go up to Seaton next week and Robert is coming on Thursday, then nothing. Selworthy go back to school on 6th September (in theory – they’re putting new classrooms up and I hope they’ll be finished in time – t’was a bit ambitious to do all 3, taking them down and putting new ones up, in 5-6 weeks) and I hope to go up and see them some time in that first week, then except for if I go up again nothing till college on 15th September.

And this is now incredibly long so I shall be off!
