Went to the RSPCA Open Day today, it was good fun! I’ve known some of the staff for years but don’t really see them much anymore (used to volunteer there, had to stop when I became wheelchair bound). Dad still goes, to maintain the link as much as anything else. So had a nice chat to some of them and got a tour of the new rabbit room! It’s very impressive – pens like you’d have at a vets surgery but with cat flaps and steps (yes steps, not ramps) down to outside areas.

Ended up in the bottom field where a few of the inspectors were in a tent (oddly enough a Cats Protection League one..) taking show entries. I knew most of them and at that point it started to rain so we ducked (why do ducks keep coming up?!) into the tent for shelter. One of them admired Vale and said something about entering, I said can’t because she’s not a rescue dog but I’d be in there like a shot if she could! He went to check and as she is from a registered charity (Guide Dogs for the Blind Association) she could enter.

So I took her in for Prettiest Bitch and she got second! Apparently it very close for first and one of the judges wanted to give her first. Not bad for her first show 😉

\"Vale's

I do apologise for the awful quality but it was dark and I had to find some artificial light – took me bloody ages to get just that! So that was the highlight of my day 🙂

Stopped at the supermarket on the way back and bought food for the BBQ on Monday. Ended up with 36 sausages, 16 beefburgers, 24 burger buns, 24 finger rolls, a bottle of tomato ketchup, a bottle of squash, some tomatoes, a lettuce and 20 choc ices! Should be enough for 15 people…
